So I really wanna go to Mohegan Sun this year.

Because there's a Margaritaville restaurant there.

I know I'm probably alone on this one, and I'm ok with that.

It's funny how I have very little to say, yet I insist on, nearly every weekday, wasting your time here. Funny.

This movie should be moved to the top of your Netflix queue immediately. I mean, come on!

Jesus fuck, the All-American Rejects are like the worst fucking band on earth. (ok, no; anything that sounds remotely like/is Nickelback takes that spot) I like Ben Weasel's These Ones Are Bitter somewhat less just knowing that some of them were his backing band on that record. And don't think you're off the hook, Andriano.
Video is from the always charming Meathead at Buddyhead sharing his thoughts on the band.

Here's a list of over 40 upcoming horror remakes. Sigh. Dear Hollywood: don't remake Argento you fucks. Or I Spit On Your Grave/Day of the Woman. And leave the Killer Tomatoes alone. Seriously, as much as I love that series, no one needs them remade. Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Kreuger is a pretty great call though.

Speaking of movies, TIME calls Inglourious Basterds 'a misfire.' I'll still be seeing it. I could watch Brad Pitt asking for one hunnerd Nat-zi scalps- and I want my scalps!- all day long.

First of all, baseball tonight! w00t! And the seats are damn good.

Also, Chuck Ragan finished recording his new album, Gold Country. Additionally, he's got a split 7" with the Gaslight Anthem's Brian Fallon coming out on SideOneDummy in July.
These two facts have me pretty goddamned stoked.

I don't have much else to say. Uh. The Menzingers fucking rule. The best thing to come out of Scranton, PA since... the last notable thing that came from Scranton. Hit that link and listen to "Alpha Kappa Fall Off a Balcony." And their new 7", Hold On, Dodge, is great.

Did I mention the alarming news I heard recently? No? Well, get ready to be stoked as all hell. The Lilith Fair is back. Though currently, there aren't plans for a North American tour, just Europe. Or at least, that's all they've told people. I wonder what Paula Cole's up to these days, anyway? (Jesus, she's from Massachusetts? Bummer)

I've got some last minute meeting at 1:30. Delightful.

Harvard professor PalpatineCharles Nesson tells judge that P2P filesharing is fair use.

I started watching season 1 of Heroes last night. I've never doubted Caitlin and Jeff's taste more than I do now. (and that's saying something HEY-O!)

Some early Guitar Hero 5 info can be found here. The real meat of the article, though, is of course the confirmed songs revealed. They are:
The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil
Bob Dylan – All Along The Watchtower
The White Stripes – Blue Orchid
Santana – No One To Depend On (LIVE)
Vampire Weekend – A-Punk
Tom Petty - Runnin Down a Dream
Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire
Kings of Leon – Sex on Fire

I'm pretty "meh" on them, aside from "Watchtower."

Let's look back at our favorite "controversial teen TV moments. I'm shocked that 90210 only comes up once. However, the presence of Punky Brewster more than makes up for it.

This is pretty much how it works. More or less.

There are recurring themes in everything JJ Abrams creates, and io9 looks at what he's trying to tell us. Thank god a lifetime of nerdery has me well-versed on the ins and outs of time travel, parallel universes, and the like.

This is kind of cool.

Refuse Resist, a local punk band, are playing a show this weekend, opening for The Business and Flatfood 56. The ticket prices, especially after Ticketmaster's shenanigans, were pricey. So, Shawn from Refuse Resist posted this:

Anyone who bought a ticket and had to pay the crazy surcharges, come to our merch table with your ticket and I'll (or the person working merch) give a free CD. Rhode Island Rejects and Massholes Vol. 2 We have our MA song on it, and there are like 40 tracks. Some really good ones too.

I think that's cool of them to do.

Tunes: Alkaline Trio - Jaked on Green Beers

So the band Westbound Train linked to my blog entry about their new album, Come and Get It, on their website.

Pretty cool :)

I posted this just about everywhere on the internets, but in case you somehow missed it:

Luna takin' a ride

So 3DRealms, the company behind the long-delayed Duke Nukem Forever, folded recently. And in the wake of their closure, Duke Nukem documents and screenshots have been leaking. The looks like it would have been cool :(

I don't understand how you can have a list of the best SNL commercial parodies and NOT include Old Glory Life Insurance. For when the metal ones come for you.

Secret Trekkies. It's ok, let it out guys. Though this list seems more about people who you didn't know that were on Star Trek, not are necessarily Trekkies.

I am getting pretty pumped for the Star Trek. So far, it has a 95% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Pretty solid for a nerd movie. Ebert seems to have issues with it, but from the quote there, it seems he's yearning for the stories of the Gene Roddenberry days, which sadly haven't really been Trek's style since Berman took over the series.

The Riot Before - "We Are Wild Stallions"

The Riot Before - "We Are Wild Stallions!" from Dave O'Dell on Vimeo.

I dunno about that mullet Brett (singer/guitarist) is rocking there.
Also, there's an interview with the band up at Unbound Culture. Up the folk punx! Bummed that they probably won't start recording the next album until after the Fest '09, but that's life. I need more Riot Before!

Tunes: Belle & Sebastian - Act of the Apostle II

As Star Trek comes out tomorrow, naturally the Internet- bastion of nerds who want to be heard- is talking about the franchise nonstop. Here, IGN counts down the best Trek movie moments.
Also, a watching of all six original series movies: Star Trek: The Marathon. With commentary from Katey, who knows nothing more about Trek than "going boldly where no man has gone before."

One last Trek link: Boston.com praises Star Trek, calling it (among other things) the best franchise reboot ever, managing to remind viewers why they loved the characters in the first place.

Anyway, I'm sure there are things to talk about that don't involve spaceships, but damned if I know (or care) what those things are.

EDIT: OK, I lied, there is something I know and care about that has nothing to do with any sort of spacecraft or space heroics: Here are the custom guitars for The Beatles: Rock Band. And there are some pre-orders starting out there.

30 classic PC games that still rule. This list is 100% accurate.

The AV Club recounts the important life lessons to be learned from Star Trek.
Though I have to argue with their assessment of Picard's Ahab-esque rant in First Contact. Then again, I think that's perhaps the second-best Trek movie, (Wrath of Khan being the first) so I'm biased.
And speaking of Star Trek movies, I would love this. Or this, mostly for its inclusion of The Undiscovered Country. The Motion Picture and (particularly) The Final Frontier I could do without, but 2, 3, 4, and 6 would be awesome.

Our team, Tribbles in My Sock Drawer, won big yesterday, taking 137 of a possible 142 points at trivia. Upon the announcement of our score, some dude at a table near us goes "NERDS!" Fuck yeah, dude. Fuck yeah. On the final question, where it was discovered that even if we got it wrong, if we bid 2 points, we would still win, we went 10 points anyway, because we're just that hardcore. Go Big, or Go Home.

James and I saw these guys last night:

I dug the show. Bang Camaro opened, they were pretty meh. But I dug E6's set. I'd check 'em out again. I need to give the last two albums a better listen, though. I don't know Flashy at all, and am only somewhat familiar with I Shall Exterminate Everything Around Me That Restricts Me From Becoming the Master.

I was hanging around last night, going through the new records that have come in in the past month, and I threw on the solo album from Austin Lucas, Somebody Loves You (2009, Suburban Home Records)

It's a lovely half black/half red record, and more importantly, it's a phenomenal album. Some of the best country/folk I've heard.

You should check it out here.
